The Public Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed reports that they have appointed former journalist Jacque Maribe to the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management as the Head of Communications.

In a statement on Thursday, PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri asserted that no such appointment has been made and the board has not received any request to employ Maribe.

"For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise," said Muchiri as quoted.

This comes a week after several reports confirmed that Maribe secured the lucrative job, which came days after she was acquitted in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani in 2018.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria was even quoted by one of the national media outlets confirming the appointment.

"It is true except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission," said Kuria.

For an appointment to be made, the PSC must announce a vacancy in a specific position(s) then shortlist the applicants who have met the required threshold.
