Kenyans have been urged to embrace preventive healthcare measures and take an active role in managing their health to support the country's journey towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Speaking during the launch of the third edition of ‘Shadow in Perpetuity’, authored by renowned oncologist Prof. Nicholas Abinya in Nairobi, Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo emphasized the critical role of early disease diagnosis, adherence to treatment, and informed decision-making in improving health outcomes.

The PS noted that healthcare is a shared responsibility involving citizens, healthcare professionals, and the government, stressing that successful healthcare delivery depends on the collective efforts of all stakeholders.

"Early diagnosis and preventive healthcare remain key pillars in reducing the burden of disease and improving the quality of life for Kenyans. Every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding their health," Dr. Omollo noted.

The PS also highlighted milestones achieved under the Social Health Authority (SHA), noting that the government remains committed to strengthening access to affordable and quality healthcare services across the country.

He underscored that the success of Universal Health Coverage can only be realized when citizens actively participate in maintaining healthy lifestyles and seeking timely medical attention, while the government continues investing in accessible healthcare infrastructure and services.

The event brought together healthcare professionals, policymakers, scholars, and members of the public to celebrate Prof. Abinya's latest publication, which contributes to discussions on health, resilience, and the human experience.

Prof. Abinya's ‘Shadow in Perpetuity’ continues to offer valuable insights drawn from his extensive experience in medicine, particularly in cancer care, while inspiring conversations on the importance of health awareness and personal responsibility.
