Probe starts after Masinde Muliro third-year student raped, killed

The body of a female third-year student at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has been discovered outside her house in Kefinco, in the outskirts of Kakamega town.

The incident was confirmed by Kakamega township assistant chief Isaac Ayumba, who stated that investigations have begun.

The deceased was last seen on Tuesday, according to witnesses, amid reports that she was sexually assaulted before being killed by unknown assailants.

Students at the university have decried the region’s increasing insecurity, claiming that the latest incident is not an isolated incident.

On Wednesday, students carrying placards and twigs took to the streets to demand an investigation into the matter and the arrest of the perpetrators.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Kakamega County Refferal Hospital Mortuary.
