Probe as night guard murdered outside laundry shop in Machakos

Investigations have been launched after a night guard stationed outside a laundry shop in  Muthini area within Machakos Town was found murdered.

The robbers broke into the laundry shop on Monday, taking away goods and valuables after killing the night guard.

Residents believe the guard struggled with his attackers before being killed, as his body bore multiple severe injuries. 

Locals have criticized security agencies for laxity in flushing out criminal gangs in the area.

Ibrahim Kiiti, a resident, warned that if the situation continues, residents might take the law into their own hands due to the rampant insecurity.

Peter Nzioka, another resident, called for action.

"It is sad that families are struggling to provide for their families, only to be attacked by thugs," he said.

Machakos DCIO Nzioka Singi assured residents that the authorities would not rest until crime is eradicated and urged them to report any perpetrators immediately.

The body was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital Mortuary.
