The eight-team end-of-season playoffs are being played in a best-of-three series, starting from the quarter finals to the finals.

In the men's contest, the highly anticipated blockbuster pitting holders General Service Unit (GSU) against former champions Kenya Prisons lived up to its billing, but it was the warders who walked away with a significant advantage.

Prisons, who relinquished the title to GSU last season, put on a tactical masterclass to hammer the champions in straights of 25-17, 26-24, 25-23 in the first leg of the quarterfinals.

GSU must now win Saturday’s second leg at the same venue to keep their title defence alive and force a decider on Sunday.

Regular-season frontrunners Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) enjoyed a smoother ride on their home turf, asserting their dominance over the Kenya Airports Police Unit (KAPU) with a commanding 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-16) sets win.

Juja-based Chema Volleyball Club playing in their maiden top-flight playoff appearance, showed remarkable composure to sweep aside seasoned package Trailblazers 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.

In another men’s clash, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) marched to a convincing 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-21, 25-18) over Equity Bank, placing them a single win away from the final four.

At the Aga Khan Academy, reigning women's champions Kenya Pipeline served off their title defence exactly how they left off in Kigali last weekend.

Fresh from their 2026 Genocide Memorial Tournament triumph, the Oilers dismantled Nairobi Prisons 25-17, 25-18, 25-20 to claim the quarter finals advantage with semi final slot in sight.

Former champion Kenya Prisons put on the most ruthless display of the day, completely blowing away Kenya Army in straight sets with huge margins.

The warders restricted the army side to single digits in two shocking sets, wrapping up the match in 25-6, 25-19, 25-6.

Last season's bronze medallists KCB also had a perfect start. The Bankers dug deep to withstand a stern opening-set challenge from Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) before locking in a straight-sets 26-24, 25-13, 25-21 victory.

In another clash, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) wrapped up Friday’s women's quarterfinal action at Aga Khan Academy Mombasa with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Postbank Queens (19-25, 25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 15-12).

All the winners now need just one more victory tomorrow to seal places in the semi-finals with comebacks also expected in the playoffs being played in best-of-three series.

Summary results Men Chema 3-0 Trailblazers (25-22, 25-17, 25-19) KDF 3-0 Equity Bank (25-22, 25-21, 25-18) Kenya Prisons 3-0 GSU (25-17, 26-24, 25-23) KPA 3-0 KAPU (25-13, 25-18, 25-16)
