There was panic at Narok Prison in Viungani Narok County after a prison warden took out his G3 gun and shot in the air severally Friday afternoon.

Constable Osborne Omondi reportedly snapped after his bosses made some accusations against him.

Prison superintendent Alfred Musila said the constable fired four shots using a 20 bullet G3 gun – a situation that caused panic.

“The situation caused alarm in the prison causing everyone to lock themselves in rooms for safety,” Musila reported.

The prison boss said he was forced to call for help from other police posts in Narok County.

Musila added that they joined hands with Narok police commander, Abdi Galgao, to help calm the situation.

“It took close to four hours to stop the police warden who was still holding on to the gun and filled with anger,” said the superintendent.

This comes barely two days after female police officer shot herself dead while she was on duty at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)  with reasons still to be disclosed.
