President Ruto to launch national dialogue on Kenya’s Vision 2060 plan

President William Ruto will lead the Executive arm of government into submitting proposals for the Vision 2060 economic transformation plan, during Wednesday's national dialogue at Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).

Until Tuesday evening, the National Treasury was busy making final preparations ahead of the convention that will be led by among others Treasury Cabinet secretary John Mbadi and Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyongo.

“Tomorrow is the beginning of public engagement in form of public participation as enshrined in the constitution and this is what will inform Kenyans towards vision 2060,” said CS Mbadi.

Other than the Cabinet, representatives from the Judiciary and legislative arms of government are expected to be among the 5,000 Kenyans drawn from 47 counties who will submit their memoranda on the road map towards Vision 2060 First World Economic Charter.

“If you have better ideas come with them tomorrow and present the better opinions so that we converse together...This vision is not Ruto's' vision...why dismiss the efforts made so far towards realization of vision 2030?” Posed Mbadi.

Once adopted, the national development charter will then be formulated and tabled in Parliament in form of a bill, and if passed by the bicameral house, assented to by President William Ruto with the sole aim of anchoring the deliberations into a legislative policy.

The dialogue is expected to define the country's post-Vision 2030 agenda, focusing on robust institutions, human capital, and inclusive development.

According to the conveners of the meeting, the conversation is expected to offer a platform for examining Kenya’s long-term priorities and strengthening the policy foundations necessary to introduce and sustain economic development.

“We should realize our first world economic status in 25 years within that vision...that is why it is important for all of us to sit down and formulate,” added CS Mbadi.
