President William Ruto has re-assigned two Principal
Secretaries in a bid to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of
the immediate former Petroleum Principal Secretary Mohamed Liban.
Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, in a communique released
on Thursday, noted that the re-assignments also aim to ensure continuity in the
administration and coordination of government functions within the affected
State departments.
In the new changes, the ASALs and Regional Development PS
Kello Harsama has been moved to replace Liban in the State Department for
Petroleum.
East African Community (EAC) Affairs PS Caroline Karugu has
now been designated a double role as the as the Acting ASALs and Regional
Development PS.
Liban was among three government officials who tendered their resignations
to President Ruto after they were implicated in the
alleged importation of substandard fuel.
The others were Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority
(EPRA) Director General Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria, and Kenya Pipeline Company
(KPC) Managing Director Joe Sang.
The resignations came after they were arrested and grilled
before being released, even as investigations into the matter continued.
