The owner of Precious Talents Academy Moses Wainaina has been detained for 15 more days.

The court said this is to allow police complete their probe into what led to collapse of the school building.

“Death of a single pupil is catastrophic. Thorough investigations need to be conducted,” Magistrate Joyce Gandani said.

Eight pupils were killed and 64 others injured.

In her ruling on Friday, Magistrate further ordered police to get reports from Ministry of Education and Urban Planning.

The investigating officer had opposed the school owner’s released saying he could tamper with evidence.

The Prosecution further argued that detention was for the sake of Ndirangu security as he had raised public emotions and risks being attacked.

Mr. Wainaina was arrested on Thursday evening and detained at Kabete Police Station.

The government has also shut down the school and directed that the 207 remaining pupils be transferred to Ngong Forest Primary School, Jamhuri Primary School and Riruta Satellite Primary School.
