Babies Monthly Mug,” a tournament that brought together seasoned players,
rising juniors, and passionate club members to compete for top honors.
At the end of the day, it was Prashant Thakrar who stole the
spotlight, emerging as the overall winner with a brilliant score of 64 points
net. His consistent play and calm approach helped him rise above a strong field
of competitors in the popular monthly event.
In Division I, Jiten Pabari claimed the winner’s spot with
67 points, followed closely by Julius Omollo, who finished as the runner-up
with a score of 64. The Division II category was equally competitive, with
Raemesh Kara taking top honors with 67 points, and Lina Akello finishing just
behind as runner-up, also on 64 points.
The Division III winner, Serah Owuor, impressed with a score
of 64, while Jackson Ulira came in as the runner-up with 67 points, showing
that the ladies were just as strong on the day’s leaderboard.
The tournament, which had a special focus on players born in
the month of June, saw Mourice Oduor awarded the "June Babies Winner"
title after scoring 67 points, while Paul Nyenga was crowned the best guest
player with a total of 76 points.
In the senior category, Deepack Sohanlal emerged as the top
performer with 70 points, showing that age is no barrier to skill and success
on the course. Among the juniors, Joseph Chege stood out and was celebrated as
the Best Junior, with Paul Otieno taking the top spot in the Nine Hole
Competition with 33 points.
The competition also saw big moments off the fairways. Dr.
O. Lusi won the Longest Drive (Men) on Hole 12, while L. Kongani took the
honors for the Longest Drive (Ladies), also on the 12th hole. Stanley Ogejo
showed precision and focus to win the nearest to Pin award at Hole 13.
The day wasn’t short of thrilling shots either. A special
mention was made for Raju Bhayani and Faraja Mulunda, who both recorded two
amazing shots at the 17th hole during the Two Analysis Ball Pool challenge.
After the prize giving ceremony, Nyanza Golf Club captain
Griffin Owino praised the spirit of the tournament and the growing number of
players. “This event is about more than just golf. It brings together members
of all ages and gives us a chance to celebrate the game and each other. We’re
especially proud of our juniors and senior players who continue to show great
talent and dedication,” he said.
He added that the club is focused on growing the sport in
the region by creating more opportunities for all golfers to participate and
improve. “We thank everyone who made the June Mug a success, and we look
forward to an even bigger event next month,” Owino concluded.
With great scores, inspiring stories, and a spirit of
togetherness, the June Mug of the Month lived up to expectations and once again
proved why Nyanza Golf Club remains a home for champions and lovers of the
game.
