The result once again highlighted 3K’s struggles on the road, as they failed to match their hosts’ intensity and organization throughout the contest.
Speaking to Citizen Digital after the game, 3K head coach Francis Chege was candid in his assessment, conceding that the better team won on the day.
He acknowledged that MCF outperformed his side in all areas, from ball possession to tactical execution, leaving 3K with little to show for their efforts.
"MCF deserved the win, we started so casually by conceding an early goal. They dominated us in all areas," Chege said.
The defeat adds to a worrying trend for 3K, who have found it difficult to grind out results away from home this season. Chege admitted that the team must urgently address their away form if they are to remain competitive in the NSL.
"Our boys are young and are struggling with the mentality while playing away from home. It is something that we will sit down with them and share what it takes to win away matches," Chege added.
Attention now turns to their next assignment, another away fixture against Kabati Youth. With little time to recover, 3K will be under pressure to regroup quickly and deliver an improved performance as they seek to end their run of poor results on the road.
Several National Super League (NSL) matches were played on Wednesday, Kibera Blackstars edged Migori Youth FC 1-0 to claim a vital home victory, while MCF FC continued their solid form by narrowly defeating 3K FC 1-0 at the MCF Complex. Fortune Sacco FC registered one of the standout results of the day after seeing off Talanta FC 3-1 in an entertaining encounter.
Nairobi City Stars impressed on the road, securing a convincing 2-0 win against Vihiga United, while MOFA and Kisumu AllStars shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Mombasa United FC delivered a dominant performance at home, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Mwatate United.
Elsewhere, Luanda Villa and Nzoia Sugar played out a goalless draw, Gucha Stars stunned Naivas FC with a 1-0 away win, and Equity Bank FC wrapped up the day’s action with a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Darajani Gogo.
