Police seize over 200 cartons of counterfeit alcohol in Kericho

Police in Sosiot, Belgut Sub-county, Kericho County, have seized more than 200 cartons of counterfeit alcoholic beverages during a raid on a makeshift distillery in Kapsuser.

Belgut Police Commander David Koech said the fake liquor was confiscated during a multi-agency operation targeting illicit alcohol in several villages and trading centres across the sub-county.

Although the suspected dealers escaped before officers arrived, Koech said investigations are ongoing to track them down.

He warned those involved in the manufacture and sale of counterfeit and illicit alcohol that they would be arrested and arraigned in court.

Koech added that the multi-agency crackdown will continue until the sub-county is rid of counterfeit and illicit brews.
