Police in Eldoret have seized 10 jerricans of ethanol with an estimated street value of Ksh.500,000 as authorities intensify the hunt for the suspects behind the stash.
According to Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin
Mwanthi, the discovery was made following a tip-off from members of the public.
The ethanol was found buried inside the compound of an incomplete house in the
Annex area along the Eldoret–Nakuru highway.
Mwanthi noted that the same compound had been raided just
a month ago, when police confiscated illicit alcohol. He warned that the
substances pose a serious danger to public health.
At the time of the raid, no one was found at the
premises. The police boss urged the property owner to present themselves to the
authorities as investigations continue.
