According to the National Police Service (NPS), the residents also surrendered ten rounds of ammunition.
"This milestone reflects the effectiveness of the sustained dialogue and confidence-building measures undertaken by the National Police Service and other security stakeholders in the region," NPS posted on X.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to continue with the exercise through community engagement while also enhancing intelligence-led operations to boost security in the region.
The exercise is part of the government's efforts to restore peace in volatile regions such as the Kerio Valley, Elgeyo Marakwet, and the Tana River.
Last week, at least 11 guns were surrendered to police officers in Tana River County in adherence to the 60-day amnesty period announced by the regional security team.
In June 2025, Ruto reiterated his administration's commitment to combat the circulation of illegal weapons.
“A firearm in the wrong hands is not just a potent weapon, it is a direct assault on the safety of our citizens, the stability of our society, and the peace we have worked so diligently to build,” the president stated during a public exercise held in Ngong, Kajiado County, which saw the destruction of 6,000 firearms.
“We will not allow violence to take root in our communities. Our commitment to disarming those who threaten our peace is unwavering,” he added.
