Police and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) are investigating an incident in which a motorist was captured on camera deliberately ramming another vehicle in Nairobi's Lavington area.

The driver of the vehicle that was repeatedly rammed at an entertainment spot in Lavington says he has been out of work for three days due to the damage caused to the car he was driving.

The owner of the Toyota Prado captured in the viral video claims the smaller vehicle, an online taxi, blocked his way out, triggering the confrontation.

The video, which has sparked widespread debate online, shows the Prado repeatedly ramming the smaller vehicle before speeding away.

Citizen TV tracked down Yunis Ibrahim, an Uber driver based in Eastleigh, who was behind the wheel of the smaller vehicle that night.

"I was dropping off a client at the mall when I came face to face with the Prado. He asked me to move and I agreed. But every time I tried to make way, he kept pushing my car. I reversed to avoid him, but he continued pushing my vehicle," Ibrahim said.

The Prado owner defended his actions, saying the taxi driver had blocked the road and refused to move.

"I pushed him out of my way because he had blocked the road. Together with the security guards, we asked him to move his vehicle, but he insisted we had to wait because his client was coming out of the bar," said the Prado owner.

The Prado owner further alleged that Yunis damaged his vehicle by striking its headlights with a club, prompting the confrontation. Yunis, however, maintains he was the victim of road rage.

"I turned into a corner, but he followed me. I tried to escape, yet he kept chasing and ramming my car. I wanted to get out of the vehicle, but he pushed it into me again," Ibrahim noted.

"I reported the matter to the police station. He reported it as a hit-and-run, while I reported malicious damage," said the Prado owner.

Citizen TV returned to the scene at night and spoke to security guards who witnessed the confrontation.

"The Prado was leaving while the Uber driver was dropping off a client. The Prado was moving fast and appeared to slightly hit the Uber vehicle. It wasn't a major impact. The Uber driver asked why he had been hit, became angry, took out a club and struck the Prado. The Prado driver warned him not to do that because someone could get seriously hurt," said one security guard.

"After that, the Prado driver said, 'Let me show this man that I did not beg for my car.' He reversed and rammed the Uber vehicle. We pleaded with him to stop, but he reversed again and rammed it a second time," said another security guard.

Yunis's employer says the vehicle has been rendered unusable and is demanding compensation.

"Work has stopped because of this incident. I want justice. They should buy us another vehicle because this one is beyond repair," said Adam Ali, Yunis's employer.

At Muthangari Police Station, Citizen TV sought confirmation on whether the Prado driver had been arrested, but no arrest had been made by the time of filing this report.

The incident is now under investigation by police and NTSA.
