A contingent of police officers on Thursday evening surrounded the home of businessman Jimi Wanjigi at 44 Muthaiga Road, Nairobi.

Witnesses at the scene told Citizen TV that a suspicious vehicle came speeding and parked right outside the gate to Wanjigi’s home, after which the occupants disembarked and went inside the compound.

Police officers are then said to have showed up only a few minutes afterwards, and are presently conducting an inspection of the car.

Sources within the police service also told Citizen TV that Wanjigi is suspected of funding the Thursday protests dubbed ‘Nane Nane.’

They claim that the businessman allegedly facilitated several protesters to be dropped off at the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

The vehicle that is being nspected outside Wanjigi’s gate is said to be one of many that made the alleged drops.

A search of the vehicle has since led to the discovery of police communication gadgets, grenades among other items. The vehicle has since been towed to the Nairobi Central Police Station.
