Police officer found guilty of defilement jailed for 15 years

Migori Law Court has sentenced a police officer to 15 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of defiling a minor aged 16 years in 2021.
The police officer identified as Howard Omwah has been handed the jail term by Migori resident magistrate Angela Munyuny.
The officer was attached to Rapogi police post in Uriri Sub County when the incident occurred.
The court found the officer to have defiled the girl contrary to Sexual Offences Act of 2006.
The officer was also charged with the offense of committing an indecent act with a minor contrary to Section 11 of the Sexual Offences Act.
He has 14 days to appeal the judgment.
