Police officer and kin killed in Busia boda boda, trailer crash

A police officer and two members of his family have died in a road accident involving two motorcycles and a trailer in Malaba town, Teso North Sub-County, Busia County.

The officer, who was attached to the Nairobi Museum, was riding a motorcycle towards Bungoma with two passengers when another motorcycle reportedly rammed them from behind.

The impact caused the three to fall onto the road, where they were run over by a long-haul trailer travelling towards Uganda.

The officer and one of the passengers died at the scene, while the second passenger sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Teso North Sub-County Police Commander Charles Chepkong'a confirmed the incident, saying the motorcyclist who allegedly caused the accident had surrendered to police.

The suspect and his motorcycle are being held at Malaba Police Station as investigations into the accident continue.
