Police in Runyenjes, Embu County are investigating a tragic incident involving an officer from Nthagaiya Police Post, who allegedly shot and killed one man and injured another on Saturday night at a popular joint in Ugweri Market.

The incident reportedly occurred when the officer, accompanied by a colleague, entered Vision Joint and attempted to disperse patrons.

According to Catherine Nyaga, mother of the deceased, the officer is said to have shot her son, 43-year-old Ephantus Muriithi Nyaga in the head, resulting in his immediate death. Catherine claims both officers appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the shooting.

Meanwhile, the second victim was rushed to Embu Level 5 Hospital, where he is currently recovering from a neck injury.

The body of Ephantus Muriithi has been moved to the hospital's mortuary as investigations continue.
