The Kenya Police Team Manager George Maelo is hopeful they
will complete the signing of Francis Kahata before their return leg against
Ulinzi Stars on Sunday in Nakuru.
Kahata has six months left on his current contract with
Ethiopian side Sadima but trained with the newly promoted FKF Premier
League club while on holiday.
The Kenyan international has made quite the impression at his
potential new employers and Maelo is confident a deal will be reached soon.
“He is still in Ethiopia trying to clear with the club and
that's something that we have to respect. If the club agrees to release him we
are ready to sign him because he's the type of player we want and has shown he
wants to play for us," Maelo said.
On Wednesday, Police played to a barren draw against their military
rivals Ulinzi and Maelo has insisted on the importance of sharpening their
attack ahead of the return leg.
“We created almost three clear chances against our rivals but
failed to convert them. We are currently working to improve our finishing ahead
of Sunday's clash and I am confident we will emerge victorious ,” Maelo added.
Police currently sit ninth in the league standings with 20
points while the 2010 champions are placed 12th, three points adrift.
