Police in Kakamega have arrested two suspected bhang peddlers.

The authorities also seized cannabis seeds worth an estimated Ksh. 900,000, 160 rolls of marijuana, and smuggled cigarettes, among other items.

Kakamega Central Police Commander Vincent Cherutich said the suspects had been running an illegal drug trade in Joyland area, located in Shieywe Ward on the outskirts of Kakamega town.

He further revealed that the suspects had also been using products such as biscuits and specially flavoured substances to distribute the drugs to university students and residents within the county.

At the same time, Butere Sub-County Police Commander Justus Njeru said officers recovered five sacks of marijuana in the Lunza area, with two suspects already arraigned in court.

He added that police are working closely with residents to curb the illegal trade, particularly within learning institutions.
