A bizarre incident was on Friday witnessed in Chemasili village, Vihiga County, after a man was nailed to a tree for allegedly stealing a radio.

Collins Sambaya, 19, is said to have been nailed to the tree by one Elvis Irime who used two roofing nails to secure both of the victim’s palms in place.

Area residents raised alarm to North Izava location Chief Evans Endesha who then notified local law enforcement officers stationed at Kilingili Police Post.

The culprit, reports say, fled from the scene when he saw the police officers arriving.

In a video seen by Citizen Digital, residents under the supervision of the police attempted to free Sambaya from the tree using a power saw.

Their efforts proved successful as Sambaya was later rescued and rushed to Mbale Referral Hospital for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.

Meanwhile, detectives have launched a manhunt for Irime, to bring him to book for his inhumane action.
