Kenya Police Bullets FC Chief Executive Officer Chris Oguso wants his charges to quickly put aside their FKF Cup heartache and focus on clinching the Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL) title.

Bullets’ dreams of storming to the FKF Cup final were shuttered on Saturday following a 4-2 penalty shootout semi final loss to holders Ulinzi Starlets at Dandora Stadium in Nairobi after the last four encounter ended 1-1 in regulation time.

In spite of the defeat, Onguso has remained upbeat they will win the two remaining league fixtures and lift the title with an unbeaten record.

"I didn't watch the match on the pitch because I was on duty out of the country but I watched the highlights and for sure my girls really fought. Penalties are unpredictable and I congratulate them for the good fight. I (also) hail Ulinzi for storming to the final and I wish them all the best against Kibera.

“As we hope to win the third winner match against Zetech Sparks, it's also our hope that we shall win our two last league matches against Zetech Sparks and Bunyore Starlets and clinch the league title for the first time.”

Oguso however urged the Football Kenya Federation to roll out measures to ensure the FKF Women's Cup winners participate  in CAF competitions as it is in the men’s league where the winner plays in the Caf Confederation Cup.

“It's pity that the women FKF cup winner will not have an opportunity to play in Caf competition and they will only be awarded a trophy with no cash prize. I urge the FKF to ensure they push for the winner of the FKF Cup to play in Caf competition as a way of exposing the ladies talents.

“It's only the league winners who take part in Caf Women's Champions League qualifiers only and that's not enough, we want more. Just look at the men's league where the winner plays in the Caf Champions League and the other winner plays in the Confederation Cup. We (want) that replicated in women leagues. We have invested in the league and used a lot of money to prepare the girls, and I think they should be rewarded by playing in Caf tournaments.”

Ulinzi Starlets will be eyeing their third FKF Women's Cup glory when they take on Kibera Soccer Ladies in the final on June 16.

Kibera Soccer Ladies advanced to the final after defeating Bernard Kitolo coached side  Zetech Sparks 2-1.
