The National Police Service (NPS) has arrested three suspects in connection with a video showing an attack on a convoy of motor vehicles along the Kisii-Keroka road, targeting a political group.

In a statement dated July 4, NPS Director of Corporate Communication Muchiri Nyaga said the incident occurred on Friday, July 3, and that officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kisii Central, and Keumbu Police Station moved swiftly to effect the arrests.

The suspects are currently in custody as detectives carry out further analysis of the video and pursue additional leads.

"A more detailed analysis of the video, alongside wider investigative efforts, is underway with a view to making further arrests," the statement read.

The Service condemned the attack in strong terms, describing political intolerance as unacceptable and warning that it would be "rigorously pursued through the criminal justice system."

Nyaga added that the Inspector General had directed the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) to expedite an assessment of all aspects of the violence, identify any operational gaps that may have contributed to the incident, and take appropriate action. IAU officers are already on the ground in the affected area.
