Mount Kenya University (MKU) once again stamped their authority in university sports after emerging as the top institution after the conclusion of the Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) Nairobi North Conference League following seven months of intense action.

The university bagged the Best Private University, Best Host University, Most Punctual University, and first runner-up overall winning university awards to cap a season to remember.

They also showcased dominance across different disciplines after clinching ten championship titles in 3x3 basketball for both men and women; woodball for men and women; taekwondo for women; table tennis for women; karate for men; darts for men; and badminton for both men and women.

Their dominance also saw them secure eight second-place finishes in men's basketball, men's and women's athletics, women's karate, men's and women's swimming, men's table tennis, and women's tennis.

Speaking after the competition, MKU Head of Sports, Creative and Performing Arts and Nairobi North Conference Secretary William Luta praised his charges for their resilience and commitment throughout the season, revealing that the institution is deliberate in nurturing students’ talents by giving them full support and helping them discover opportunities that can enable them to earn a living from their abilities after completing their studies.

Luta urged young people to stay away from alcoholism and drug abuse and instead engage in activities that can positively transform their lives, saying sports can be used as a source of income and have helped many people become successful after pursuing their talents.

The playing unit led by Jeniffer Kanario said sports have helped many young people avoid substance abuse and early pregnancies while also helping them build networks and gain exposure through competitions in different places.

Taekwondo ace Terry Ngwili credited the game for her improved health, discipline, and physical fitness.
