Pedestrian killed in accident along Awendo–Migori highway

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a private vehicle at Lwala area along the Awendo–Migori Highway in Uriri Sub-county, Migori County.

Uriri Sub-county Police Commander Ali Bashir said the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and struck Nancy Wangoi, who was walking along the pedestrian lane.

She sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene. Her body was moved to the mortuary.

The driver reported the accident at Awendo Police Station immediately after the incident.

Police say investigations are underway to establish what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

Bashir has urged motorists and other road users to observe traffic rules to prevent accidents, warning that police will take firm legal action against anyone found violating traffic laws.
