The inaugural edition of Peaches & Cream, a new daytime music experience, took over the Ngong Racecourse & Golf Park in Nairobi on Saturday, mixing live African music, Afro-R&B, soulful sounds and Afro-house from the afternoon into the evening.

South African acts Shekhinah and Sun-El Musician headlined the event, which also featured some of Kenya's leading contemporary talent, among them Nikita Kering, Njerae, Kethan, Bridget Blue, Ochiko, Watendawili, Xenia Manasseh, Bune, IV, Darkfruit, Smolls and Sendat.

Watendawili delivered a high-energy set, while Xenia Manasseh drew praise for her soulful vocals. Njerae, Bridget Blue, Kethan and Ochiko kept the afternoon anchored in Kenya's evolving R&B and alternative music scene.

As the day progressed, Bune, IV, Darkfruit, Smolls and Sendat took over, shifting the mood from live performances to the Afro-house sounds that carried the event into the evening.

One of the most talked-about moments came during Nikita Kering's set, when Gengetone artiste Swat Mtoto wa Eunice joined her on stage for a surprise performance of Lamba Lolo, sending the crowd into a full singalong.

At the top of the bill, Shekhinah brought her R&B performance to Nairobi, while Sun-El Musician served the Afro-house sound that has made him one of Southern Africa's most recognised names in the genre.

Peaches & Cream was created by Crispy Life Events, the team behind Rhythm & Brunch and Millennials Cookout. Unlike a traditional concert built around a single headline act, it was designed as a progression, with live performances through the afternoon, a changing atmosphere as the sun went down and Afro-house taking over later in the day.

Crispy Life Events Founder Dickson Matata said the debut was an important step in the evolution of the company's event portfolio.

"Peaches & Cream was created because we wanted to give Nairobi a different kind of daytime experience. The response to the first edition has shown us that there is an audience for live African music, great outdoor spaces and experiences that allow people to spend an entire day enjoying music and connecting with each other," he said.

The event also reflects a shift in Nairobi's entertainment culture, where audiences are increasingly looking beyond traditional nightlife for experiences that combine music, socialising and lifestyle in an outdoor setting.

For the organisers, the first edition marks the start of a new chapter for the company, and the buzz coming out of Saturday suggests Peaches & Cream could become a regular fixture on the city's events calendar.
