The family of a second patient whose surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is under scrutiny has appealed to the government to intervene for her release.

During an interview with Citizen Extra on Friday, Ms. Evelyn Anindo Evelyn made a passionate appeal for her sister Susan Nekesa to leave the facility as she has been there for two months now.

She narrated how attempts to have her sister discharged have hit a brick wall. “On one hand they are denying us access to her and on the other hand they are claiming that they lack the skills to help her yet she is writhing in pain,” she said.

Ms. Anindo said she gets skeptical every time she has to take the newborn baby to her sister for feeding and bonding because according to her,  frequent exposure of an infant to such an environment poses a health risk.

Her sister gave birth to twins but one of them died a few days later in the hospital nursery. KNH is under scrutiny yet again it emerged that the Caesarean section she underwent may have gone awry.

This is the second incident following the case of doctors performing brain surgery on the wrong patient.
