Over 500 rolls of bhang destroyed in West Pokot

More than 500 rolls of bhang and several litres of illicit alcohol have been destroyed in Kishaunet, West Pokot County.

This comes amid an ongoing security operation targeting those selling drugs and illegal brew in the area.

The operation comes after the county ranked second in the Rift Valley region for the prevalence of illicit alcohol and drug abuse.

Speaking during the launch of a 100-day crackdown on illicit alcohol and drugs in Kishaunet, Kapenguria Constituency, West Pokot Deputy County Commissioner Samuel Kiarie said the government is targeting manufacturers and distributors of illegal brews.

Kiarie said that relevant government agencies, working with the police, will sustain the operation to eradicate the menace of illicit alcohol in the county.
