Orengo and Sifuna pledge to hold talks to produce one Presidential candidate

Thousands of residents escorted the leaders as Linda Mwananchi brigade stormed the capital city.

The Linda Mwananchi team, who addressed their supporters at several stopovers before heading to the historic Jacaranda grounds, stated that they are committed to producing one opposition presidential candidate to face President William Ruto at the ballot.

In signaling a closing of ranks to achieve this goal, Siaya Governor James Orengo pledged to hold talks with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in a bid to produce a single Linda Mwananchi flag bearer.

Their entourage snaked through Haile Selassie Avenue... To Marikiti market...Gikomba, Jogoo Road...And finally to the famous Jacaranda grounds.

The Linda Mwananchi troops, led by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, stepped up their campaigns ahead of next year’s polls.

From the outset, the team reiterated their resolve to produce a single presidential candidate.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Siaya Governor James Orengo showed solidarity by promising to align their presidential ambitions—a move aimed at resolving their simmering internal rivalry.

Orengo had recently thrown his hat into the ring for the outfit’s presidential candidacy.

“Sifuna is my son. I want to announce that Sifuna and I will sit together at the negotiation table to ensure that we liberate Kenya,” said Orengo.

“As the opposition, we will present one presidential candidate. I will speak with Riggy G, Kalonzo, and Orengo so that we can produce a single candidate,” said Sifuna.

The leaders who spoke drummed up support for Sifuna as the best candidate to face President Ruto at the ballot.

“I have already stepped aside and declared my support for Sifuna for the presidency. However, I also defend the right of my comrade Bob Orengo to vie for the presidency. We will produce one candidate,” Babu said.

“Who is the 6th president of Kenya? Sifuna! Who is it? Sifuna!” said Trans Nzoia governor George Natembea.

“All of us have said that our president is Edwin Watenya Sifuna,” said Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.

Sifuna pledged to reverse several decisions made by President Ruto should he win the presidency.

“The slum problem is not a housing problem; it is an income problem. Tell us how many slums you have eliminated in Nairobi as a result of building houses?” Sifuna posed.

During the tour, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino continued his Nairobi gubernatorial campaign, taking aim at the incumbent, Johnson Sakaja.

“When Babu takes office, we will resolve the garbage problem. El Niño is coming and he claims it is a problem from 1963; why then did he take up the job?” said Babu Owino.
