Orengo has also accused Ruto of going against the will of former ODM leader, the late Raila Odinga and failing to implement the 10-point agenda.
“President Ruto, if you really love Luos—am addressing President Ruto—if you really, really love, you must keep the promises you made to Raila Amolo Odinga. And they are in writing. They are not things that were just said in the air; they were things which were written down: the 10-point agenda. You have not implemented even one,” said Orengo.
The governor argued that Ruto is behind the sharp division in ODM, which has birthed the Linda Ground and Linda Mwananchi factions.
Orengo argued that Ruto had betrayed Raila and his ODM supporters in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) they signed ahead of the co-operation between the Orange party and the Kenya Kwanza government.
“Raila said there cannot be a question of coalition until you address the 10-point agenda. President Ruto, I am telling you, you have taken away Raila's party—the strongest party in the Republic of Kenya. You want to turn it into a Luo party,” said Orengo.
“I can tell you, you can take that party and those useless leaders, but Raila will wake up in another form, in another shape, and in another time, which is today,” he added.
Orengo accused ODM leadership of destroying ODM through their decision to support President Ruto's re-election bid saying Linda Mwannchi faction will not be intimidated.
During his Homa Bay Town tour on Wednesday, a section of youths attempted to block Orengo from entering the central business district. Some youths had blocked the Homa Bay -Rongo road with stones and construction materials.
This led to violence in which a group of youth allied to Orengo and the ones who blocked the road fought each other with stones.
Orengo finally entered the town and addressed residents here he condemned the use of goons to disrupt rallies.
