Opposition leaders accuse Ruto government of abductions, torture

Opposition leaders have accused President William Ruto's government of using a special police unit to hunt down and torture Kenyans who oppose it in a new wave of abductions.

They spoke at separate events in Busia and Nakuru counties, with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro challenging the President to reveal who will own shares in the planned Lamu oil refinery.

In the U.S., Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua warned illicit alcohol dealers that they will be shut down by an opposition government.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and DP leader Justin Muturi took their campaign to Busia County in Western Kenya.

The three accused the state of abducting government critics and warned that dissent is being met with force.

“William Ruto anaendelea kutekeleza unyama hakuna na kuna special squad sijui inaitwa nini jamaa anatesa watoto wetu," said Kalonzo.

“Hivi maajuzi mmeskia vile vijana wanapotea Collins Oduor tumemtafuta sana amekuja kupatikana leo ameteswa kabisa," Eugene added.

In Nakuru County, PLP leader Martha Karua spoke at the launch of the Farmers Party, founded by former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri. She accused the President of ignoring the Constitution, observing that abductions are going on unchecked.

“Mambo ya haki za binadamu imeisha hii Kenya, vijana wetu wanauawa ovyo ovyo na hii serikali, hii lazima ikome na kwa kumaliza hii tabia lazima tuungane pamoja kama opposition," Karua stated.

In Subukia, Nakuru, Peoples Party leader and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro asked the President to name the stakeholders and shareholders in the Lamu oil refinery.

“Sisi tunajua William Ruto ameitisha his kwa hiyo refinery ya Lamu. Wakenya wanataka kujua who are the shareholders... Tunataka wawekezaji kama Dangote lakini asiwekwe box na William Ruto," Nyoro noted.

Speaking in Texas in the United States, DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua warned illicit brew dealers that they will face the law if the opposition takes power.

“Within one month we will shut down those 53 killer brew companies. We know right now they are giving money to the government, but we are telling them that must stop when we come in," Gachagua stated.
