Opposition has no policies, only confusion, Ruto tells off rivals in Kajiado

Speaking in Ngong and Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County on the final day of his three-day tour, the Head of State defended the UDA-ODM broad-based pre-election pact, saying the arrangement is designed to promote national unity and ensure equitable sharing of national resources.

"They are intimidating people along ethnic lines, telling them they must vote a certain way. Do not allow yourselves to be divided through tribalism and hatred. Their agenda is to spread tribalism and hatred," Ruto said.

Defending the UDA-ODM broad-based pact as a vehicle for national unity and equitable resource sharing across the political divide, the President urged Kajiado residents to embrace the arrangement, saying it would drive inclusive development and national prosperity.

"This broad-based approach is meant to ensure that all Kenyans get an opportunity to access development. This country belongs to all of us, and everyone has a right to government services," he said.

The Head of State also expressed confidence that he will retain the presidency in the 2027 General Election.

"I will beat them soundly and early, because those people have no policies, no ideas, their agenda is nothing but confusion," Ruto said.

Local politics took centre stage in Kajiado, with the simmering rivalry between incumbent Governor Joseph Ole Lenku and State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito playing out in the President's presence. Metito is positioning himself for the 2027 gubernatorial race, a bid facing resistance from Lenku, who is reportedly backing Senator Seki as a potential challenger to Metito. The rivalry was laid bare at several stops, where crowds perceived to be allied to Metito openly heckled the Governor.

"Nitahakikisha maendeleo," Lenku told one crowd, only to be met with jeers of "Hapana," and "Hatutaki."

During the final day of the tour, President Ruto inspected the Ngong VET Affordable Housing Project and commissioned several road projects, including the Kahara-Ngong Road and the Gataka Road at the Olkeri Bridge. He also launched the Ngong Stadium Loop Road, inspected the Gataka-Tumaini Road section, and launched the Ongata Rongai Standard Gauge Railway Station Access Road at the Fatima Hospital junction.

The President further inspected the Ongata Rongai Modern Market and launched the Ongata Rongai ESP Market, before addressing residents at Ngong Town, Kware Stage and Tumaini Stage.
