One win does not make you kingpin, Ruku tells Gachagua

Speaking on Saturday during the Uzalendo Half Marathon in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, Ruku said Gachagua was exaggerating the significance of the Ol Kalou outcome, insisting that a single electoral win does not make him the outright or de facto leader of the region.

Ruku maintained that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains firmly rooted in Mt Kenya and expressed confidence that President William Ruto would regain the support of its voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He said government leaders would return to the region to engage residents directly, explain the administration's development agenda and counter what he termed misleading political narratives being advanced by the opposition.

The Cabinet Secretary said those predicting the loss of Mt Kenya support would be surprised by the outcome of the next election, adding that Kenya Kwanza leaders would intensify their campaigns across the region to secure overwhelming backing for the President.

Baringo Senator Kiprono Cheptumo also expressed confidence that Ruto would be re-elected, urging UDA supporters not to panic over recent political developments. He said the country's political landscape would shift significantly as the 2027 campaigns gathered momentum, and told supporters to remain united behind the ruling party, arguing that the real contest was yet to begin.

Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi echoed the sentiments, expressing confidence that the ruling coalition would retain power in the next election. He urged supporters to stay focused and continue mobilising at the grassroots, saying the government's development record would be its strongest campaign tool.
