One UI 9 brings smarter Galaxy AI tools to more devices

The update brings a smoother, more consistent experience across Samsung's device lineup, alongside an expanded set of Galaxy AI features the company says are richer, more personal and more useful in everyday tasks.

Among the standout additions is My FanCam, a tool that automatically tracks a selected person in a recorded video and keeps them centred as the scene shifts.

The feature is designed to turn everyday moments, such as a child's school performance or a friend dancing at a party, into social-ready clips without extensive manual editing. It requires a Samsung Account and does not work in videos without a clear subject to track.

One UI 9 also introduces Generative and Editable Cards within Now Brief, letting users customise the daily summaries they see by adding cards covering health, weather and video content tailored to their interests.

Device management gets an upgrade too, with a new Warranty and Care section built directly into Settings. Users can check warranty status across their connected Galaxy devices, run self-diagnostics, view repair cost estimates, and manage Samsung Care+ or book a repair appointment without leaving the phone.

On productivity, Now Nudge has been expanded to surface more context-aware suggestions as users go about daily tasks, such as pulling up reservation details or saving a shared location directly within a text conversation.

Creative Studio now also proposes image-generation ideas tied to upcoming events, for instance suggesting a themed birthday graphic when a friend's special day is approaching.

The Interpreter tool gains a new Thread View for following translated conversations more easily by referencing earlier exchanges, along with faster translation speeds in Conversation Mode and quicker playback support on compatible Galaxy Buds.

Document Scan has also been improved to handle tricky materials like curved book pages and folded paper corners with less manual adjustment, aided by large-screen-optimised views and a refined Finger Eraser tool.

Meanwhile, Voice Recorder now presents summaries in a clearer format using headings and tables for easier scanning.

On security, Samsung has added a Security Brief to Now Brief, flagging issues such as malware, apps installed from unknown sources, and unnecessary app permissions.

A new Privacy Alerts feature uses on-device AI to flag potential privacy risks, including background attempts to access device permissions without clear justification.

The company's Scam Detection feature, which warns users of potentially fraudulent calls, has also expanded to more countries and languages, with Japan, Canada and India named among the newly supported markets.

Samsung said One UI 9 will continue rolling out gradually to additional Galaxy devices in the coming weeks.
