The accident happened at around 7 p.m. on Thursday, with residents raising concern over what they describe as an increasing number of fatal crashes along the highway.
Lydia Njeri, a shopkeeper near the accident scene, says she was shocked to find four of her friends lying on the road shortly after the crash.
Njeri says the motorcycles were travelling at high speed, with the impact causing a loud bang that attracted villagers who rushed to the scene and helped take the injured to White Rose Private Hospital.
White Rose Boda Boda Chairman Waweru Kiama says several people have lost their lives at the spot, which he says has no speed bumps or adequate road signs despite rapid development in the area.
Residents are now calling on the Ministry of Roads to install speed bumps along the stretch from Wamumu to Mutithi and improve road safety measures.
They also want the highway expanded into a dual carriageway to address the rising number of accidents.
Meanwhile, the three injured victims are receiving treatment at White Rose Private Hospital, while the body of the deceased, identified as Jamleck Wainaina, has been moved to the mortuary.
Traffic police officers from Wang'uru Police Station arrived at the scene and launched investigations into the accident.
The two motorcycles involved in the crash have since been towed to Wang'uru Police Station.
