Omondi backs Kenya to floor Cameroon as Malkia Strikers eye CAVB final

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, Omondi assured fans that the technical bench has devised a solid tactical blueprint after studying the three-time continental champions' playing style.

“We are very prepared for Cameroon. We have watched them play and analyzed their attacks and defense, and we have a concrete plan for them.

The further you advance in this tournament, the tougher the opposition becomes. Dropping a set against Algeria in the quarter-finals was simply part of the game; you go down, re-strategize, and adjust, stated Omondi.

Dismissing concerns that losing their first set of the tournament during their 3-1 victory over Algeria in the quarter final would cause fatigue or dent team morale, Omondi insisted the squad's championship ambition remains unwavering.

“It will not affect our next match at all. What matters at the end of the day is securing the win," Omondi added.

“I urge Kenyans to keep trusting us as they have done throughout. Have complete confidence in this team because we will not let you down,” he concluded.

Team captain Meldina Sande mirrored her coach's optimism, emphasizing that victory will depend on executing the core fundamentals of the game while harnessing the power of the home supporters.

“As players, our job is to execute the key areas, reception, service, net blocks and keeping our morale high on the court. We are fully ready and psyched up.

My appeal to Kenyans is to turn up in large numbers at Kasarani; even if the President can make it to support us, we would be immensely grateful,” Sande added.

The winner between Kenya and Cameroon will advance to Friday's final to face either Egypt or Rwanda, keeping the host nation's dual quest for an 11th  African title and direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games on track.
