Ol Kalou by-election mirrors what awaits Ruto in 2027 - MP-elect Ngotho

Speaking during an interview on Citizen Television on Sunday, Ngotho said the use of intimidation, whether through police officers or alleged goons, would not deter voters but would instead strengthen their resolve to effect political change.

He argued that President Ruto himself understands that elections are won by persuading voters rather than coercing them.

"People in 2027 will come out in large numbers and speak, and you cannot force people to vote for you. President Ruto knows that because in 2022 he wooed people, he talked to them well, he sold them ideas and they bought into those ideas," he said.

The MP-elect also dismissed assertions by several pro-government politicians that the Ol Kalou by-election cannot be used to gauge the political landscape ahead of the 2027 polls.

According to Ngotho, the by-election served as an early indication of the electorate's mood and offered a glimpse of what could unfold during the upcoming General Election.

"This is the mirror of what will happen in fact; it was on a lighter note," he opined.

Ngotho's remarks come days after he was declared the winner of the Ol Kalou by-election, a contest that attracted national attention amid heightened political campaigns and allegations of state-sponsored violence.

Ngotho has called on President William Ruto to dismiss Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, arguing that fresh leadership at the Interior Ministry is necessary to restore public confidence and guarantee a peaceful political environment ahead of the 2027 General Election.
