ODM must get 50% in Ruto's government come 2027 - Simba Arati

Speaking on Monday during the four - day presidential tour in Chemelil, Muhoroni constituency, the governor maintained his statement that the party will get the 50/50 share.

“In the 2027 government, we as ODM must get a half share together with Honorable Ruto," Arati, who is also a deputy leader of ODM, said.

The governor had earlier stated ODM's demand for a 50% share of government. 

He said the proposed arrangement should cover key government positions and reflect ODM's contribution to Ruto's bid for a second term.

“ODM and UDA will go 50/50. There is no shortcut about it.” Arati said.

His remarks come from growing discussions on the political partnership between ODM and Ruto’s UDA, with ODM leaders pushing for an equal power-sharing arrangement should the two parties work together in the 2027 elections.

The party had previously demanded a Deputy President position if Ruto retains the presidential ticket.

Arati made the remarks on Monday while accompanying President William Ruto during his ongoing development tour of the Nyanza region. 

The President is touring Kisumu, Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay counties to inspect and launch development projects, including roads, water, markets and other public infrastructure.
