In a social media post shared on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor (popularly known as Jalang'o) shared an official party flyer declaring the upcoming rally.
"Habari ndio hio!! 31st Jacaranda!! Nairobi ni ODM!" Jalang'o posted alongside the graphic, confirming that the mega-event is slated for Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The choice of Jacaranda Grounds as the venue for ODM’s show of force is strategic and symbolic.
Just weeks earlier, on September 13, 2026, the same grounds were stormed by a massive crowd during a rally convened under the banner of the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Led by figures like Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Siaya Governor James Orengo, the Linda Mwananchi initiative drew thousands of Nairobi residents expressing discontent over economic hardships, unpopular government policies and a widespread yearning to dislodge William Ruto from the presidency.
While some political analysts and observers initially dismissed the Linda Mwananchi event as a potential flop, the overwhelming attendance highlighted a shift in grassroots mobilization across the city.
By returning to Jacaranda Grounds on October 31, ODM is taking the political battle directly to one of Nairobi’s most politically vibrant hubs to declare, in no uncertain terms, that the city remains an ODM stronghold.
Since the heady Raila Odinga days, Jacaranda Grounds has remained a symbolic bastion of opposition politics, a vibrant soul of Nairobi's explosive people-first politics.
ODM's announcement comes amidst a flurry of activity within the Oburu Odinga-led party.
Party leadership, spearheaded by regional MPs including Jalang'o, has begun actively mobilizing supporters across all 17 constituencies in Nairobi.
At the same time, ODM leaders have been working to address internal factionalism and align party structures ahead of major political milestones as the race for 2027 General Elections heats up.
Following recent regional tours and youth-led political movements across the country, ODM appears to be using the October 31 rally to unify its base, project structural strength and win over voters bogged down by the party's dwindling popularity.
While it has not yet been declared who the main speakers shall be, ODM diehards can expect to see familiar faces including National Chairperson Gladys Wanga, Deputy Party Leaders Abdulswamad Nassir and Simba Arati, Acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo and Deputy Secretary General Agnes Zani, as well as ODM stalwarts Junet Mohammed, and Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Joho, John Mbadi and others.
