Blades head coach Tony Ochieng admitted his side were off-color despite
securing a hard-fought clutch victory against Kisumu Lakeside in the National
Men’s Basketball Premier League last weekend.
The students narrowly
edged the returnees 63-62 in a closely contested match played at the USIU
Grounds, with the win boosting Strathmore’s push to climb higher on the league
standings.
“We did
not put on our usual good show. The game was a very scrappy affair, and I
complained with a lot of caution. My boys were not really up to the task, but
I’m happy that we made some good shot selections,” said Ochieng after the
match.”
The narrow
win moved Strathmore to 13 points from eight matches, having recorded five wins
and three losses this season.
Ochieng said
the team will look to build on the victory as they shift focus to their
upcoming league assignment against Equity this weekend.
“We are
going to build on this win as we prepare for our upcoming matches against Equity
this weekend. After my assessment, I identified areas that we need to improve
on, especially our defense and open-shot selection,” he added.
Meanwhile,
Lakeside remains on 10 points from eight outings, having managed two wins and
suffered six defeats so far in the campaign.
