Stanbic Aces head coach Maurice Obilo says his team is still a work in progress despite an emphatic 89-49 win over Eldonets in the Kenya National Women’s Basketball Premier League (KNBL)over the weekend.

While the dominant scoreline underlined Aces’ quality, it also exposed a side still adapting to a new tactical approach under Obilo, who joined shortly before the season began.

“It’s a packed season for me because it’s a new team. I came in a bit late, so we are still adjusting to how they play and also to the system I believe suits them best, all while competing in the league in real time,” Obilo said after the match.

“To be honest, it’s a lot, but we thank God so far, so good. The players are catching up quickly, and I’m confident that with time, we will reach the level we want,” he added.

Obilo maintains that steady improvement remains the priority as the squad continues to embrace his philosophy.

“We keep on working, keep on adjusting, implementing and introducing the system that I want them to use for the rest of the season. We are still on baby steps, just taking it one step at a time as we plan for each game,” he added.

The win sees Stanbic Aces move to the top of the standings with five wins from six matches, an encouraging return as they continue to build cohesion.
