Former State House Chief of Staff and Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita has accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of denying him a chance to vie for the county’s top seat on a Wiper ticket in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking after a church service at Uvaini AIC in Mwala Subcounty, Waita claimed that Kalonzo turned him down while seeking a party endorsement, adding that the party has already reserved the position for another candidate.

He castigated Wiper for what he described as a party run by a small circle of insiders, saying it has consistently locked out other leaders.

He therefore said that he has joined the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), arguing that the perception of Ukambani as a Wiper stronghold has impoverished the region.

According to Waita, UDA is the only party committed to delivering development directly to ordinary citizens.

Waita also warned Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, who has also declared interest in the governor's seat, not to assume he would automatically secure the Wiper ticket, citing his own experience as proof that the decision had already been made.

In addition, Waita criticized the recently launched Machakos County valuation roll, describing it as vague and lacking public participation.

He warned business and landowners to brace for punitive land rate deductions and hinted at a possible legal challenge, claiming he has the numbers in the county assembly to quash the rollout.
