Nyali Beach serves as launchpad for 2026 Senegal Youth Olympics

With six women’s teams and five men’s teams featuring, the event brought together some of the most dedicated and talented athletes from across the region.

Their energy, teamwork, and resilience lit up the sandy courts, creating a thrilling atmosphere for fans, families, and supporters.

This year’s tournament carried special significance as it served as part of the selection pathway for the 2026 Senegal Youth Olympics, giving young athletes a platform to demonstrate their skill, discipline, and potential on an international trajectory.

As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, the weekend began with a meaningful activity on Friday—tree planting along the beaches, led by Chairperson of the Beach Handball Commission Caroline Nyadiero.

The initiative symbolized the handball commission’s dedication not only to sport but also to preserving the natural beauty of Kenya’s coastline for future generations.

Athletes, coaches, and community members joined hands to plant trees, reinforcing the message that sports and sustainability can—and must—go hand in hand.

The women’s roster had Mitangani Ladies, Moi Forces Ladies, Kwashee Ladies, St. Lwanga Ladies, Changamwe Ladies and Glorious Ladies.

The men’s contest had St. Charles Men, St. Lwanga Men, Glorious Men, Changamwe Men and AP Beach Handball Club – Men.

“Every grain of sand we stepped on this weekend carried a story of determination. Every cheer from the side lines echoed belief. And every athlete who showed up proved that when passion meets purpose, greatness becomes inevitable. Beach handball is rising—because we are rising,” said Nyadiero.

Nyadiero added that the 2026 Beach Handball Tournament was more than a competition: "It was a celebration of youth, talent, community, and environmental responsibility. As we look ahead to the Youth Olympics and future championships, we remain committed to nurturing athletes, strengthening coastal sports, and protecting the environment that hosts our beloved game.”
