Notorious mobile phone snatcher arrested in Bomet

Detectives in
Bomet Central have arrested a 29-year-old man suspected of being behind a
string of mobile phone thefts in parts of Bomet and Migori counties.
The suspect,
identified as Jackson Mahono, was nabbed following a tip-off from members of
the public.
According to the
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers recovered several stolen
mobile phones from the suspect, including Vivo, Infinix, Samsung, Tecno and
Nokia smartphones believed to have been snatched from members of the public in
Kehancha, Migori and Bomet.
Preliminary
investigations indicate that Mahono was planning to flash the gadgets before
selling them to unsuspecting buyers in Migori.
Police say the
suspect is currently in custody, undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment
in court.
The recovered
phones have been subjected to forensic analysis to facilitate their return to
the rightful owners.
The DCI noted that
through intelligence-led operations, forensic analysis and close collaboration
with members of the public, it remains relentless in its war against mobile
phone theft and other forms of street crime targeting wananchi.
