Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative and Kenya Seed Company Chairperson Purity Wangui Ngirici has joined the "One Term" movement, saying she will vie for governor in 2027 on an opposition ticket.

Speaking at Kanjai in Ndia Constituency, Ngirici said she is open to joining the DCP, PLP, Jubilee, or DP parties. “I will join any of those so long as it is in the opposition,” she said.

She stressed that Kirinyaga residents will not be sold out politically and will elect leaders of their choice.

“Some people should stop asking for votes while hiding behind other leaders. I will ask for the governor seat in 2027, and I will not be behind anybody,” she told residents.

Ngirici finished second in the 2022 Kirinyaga gubernatorial race. Governor Anne Waiguru retained her seat with 113,088 votes, narrowly defeating Ngirici, who ran as an independent candidate and garnered 105,677 votes.

Wangui, who previously supported President Ruto's camp, said her political direction will follow the voices of Kirinyaga people.
