The donation targeted residents of the fast-growing Mukuru community, where access to reliable internet and digital tools remains limited.
According to Huawei, the initiative is part of its broader effort to expand connectivity and digital opportunities in underserved urban areas.
The equipement included a fiber-to-the-office connectivity solution, five Wi-Fi 7 access points, two CCTV security cameras, and a smart screen (IdeaHub).
The infrastructure is designed to support high-speed internet access for a large number of users while improving safety and enabling digital learning.
Huawei said the system is powered by its low-cost Digital Quick Optical Distribution Network (DQ-ODN), developed in partnership with Safaricom.
The solution offers entry-level unlimited home fiber access starting from 800 Kenyan shillings per month—between 50 and 70 percent cheaper than standard packages.
“By supporting the Mukuru community with digital infrastructure and tools, we are not only connecting homes but enabling access to education, livelihoods, and a better quality of life. This initiative reflects our long-term commitment to building inclusive digital ecosystems across Kenya,” said Freshina Morogo, the company’s ICT Manager.
Huawei said reliable internet access would directly benefit more than 500 learners and surrounding residents by enabling online education, digital work opportunities, and access to e-government services.
“Reliable Wi-Fi connectivity will enable access to online learning, digital work opportunities, and e-government services, particularly for young people seeking to build market-relevant skills. CCTV surveillance will enhance safety and contribute to a more secure environment for families and small businesses, fostering confidence and supporting local economic activity,” Morogo said.
The ICT hub will also use the IdeaHub smart screen to support interactive, digital-first learning, aimed at improving education outcomes and expanding access to knowledge.
Huawei said the initiative aligns with its global Tech4All program, which aims to connect 170 million people worldwide by 2030.
