A new Ksh.2 billion luxury apartment development has broken ground in Nairobi's Gigiri area, underscoring growing investor confidence in the capital's diplomatic hub as demand rises for premium serviced accommodation.
The Silva Gigiri project, located along UN Crescent, targets
United Nations staff, diplomats, expatriates and other professionals.
Construction is expected to take between 30 and 36 months.
The development is being undertaken by Kenyan entrepreneur
Mohamed Bishar, founder of Season Global, in partnership with Bahrain-based
Gulf Hotels Group, which will oversee the property's hospitality operations
upon completion.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Bishar said the
project is designed to meet international construction and hospitality
standards while creating employment opportunities.
"Silva Gigiri reflects our commitment to delivering a
world-class development that combines luxury living with wellness while
creating jobs and supporting Kenya's position as a regional hub for diplomacy,
business and international conferences," he said.
Business Development Director for Acquisitions at Gulf Hotels
Group, Majd Hamamouchi, said Kenya's growing hospitality sector and rising
demand for premium accommodation made it an attractive investment destination.
"Kenya offers significant opportunities in hospitality
and real estate, and we are pleased to partner in a project that meets the
needs of the diplomatic and international community," he said.
The development will feature wellness-focused amenities,
including a 300-metre jogging track, green spaces and recreational facilities
aimed at promoting healthier living.
Officials from the Ministry of Health said such features
complement the government's Universal Health Coverage agenda by promoting
disease prevention and healthier lifestyles.
Construction is expected to be completed within three years,
after which Silva Gigiri will open as a fully serviced luxury residential
development serving Nairobi's growing diplomatic and expatriate community.
