New KCB assistant coach Peter Okidi vows to deliver titles

Newly appointed Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) FC assistant coach Peter Okidi has set his sights on delivering silverware and writing a new chapter in the club’s history.

Okidi, who joins the Bankers from newly promoted Mombasa United, has vowed to help propel the team toward domestic glory after years of underwhelming perfomances.

KCB finished seventh position in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) for the 2025–26 season, earning 48 points from 34 matches.

Speaking after his official unveiling, the ambitious tactician revealed that despite receiving multiple offers, he was drawn to KCB's superior setup and clear vision.

“To be honest I had several offers but I decided to come to KCB because of all the teams I assessed, KCB had the structure I wanted and the environment which is good for someone who wants to grow in football.”

The former Mombasa United coach believes that with strong internal backing, the squad is well-positioned to end its trophy drought.

“I believe with the support of the management, players and technical bench we will achieve something and to be honest every coach wants to win something at the end of the season and I am here to make history and win something at the end of the season.”

As KCB continues to bolster their squad with new signings ahead of the campaign, Okidi emphasized that teamwork, discipline, and consistency will be paramount.

“The players I have met here are players that are hungry for success, they are ambitious players who are organised and willing to learn so with that discipline and teamwork I believe they will give us something at the end of the season.”

Okidi also praised head coach Robert Matano and the entire technical staff, describing them as a collaborative, welcoming unit capable of driving the team toward its goals.

“The rest of the technical bench looking at their character, they are very supportive people, they are very humble people who are willing to share and help you grow and for the growth of the team and since my arrival they have been very hospitable.”

With pre-season preparations in full swing, KCB supporters will be hoping Okidi’s winning mentality and fresh perspective inspire the Bankers to a landmark season.
