Neel Gohil triumphs at Machakos Autocross Championship

Driver Neel Gohil and his navigator Wayne Fernandes were crowned the winners of the 4WD Turbo Restricted Category in the third round of the Shell AutoX Rally Championship held in Stoni Athi, Machakos County, marking the end of the action-packed event.
All the drivers in the different classes raced in a practice run before competing in four heats with the best of three results deciding the winner in each category.
The championship, organized by 254 Motorsports Club, saw Neel Gohil win the 4WD NON TURBO in 11:25 minutes, Altaf Ganatra win the 2WD NON TURBO SENIOR CAR in 12:49 minutes, and Eann Bengi win the CADET JNR 2WD NON TURBO BUGGY in 13:20 minutes, in an event that was of special significance as it paid tribute to the late Jose Sardinha, a former AutoX and Rally champion.
The championship, sanctioned by Motorsport Kenya Federation, has been heating up, with drivers vying for the top spot in their respective classes.
Commenting on the competition, the Vivo Energy Kenya Fuels Brand Manager, Ruth Wang’ombe, noted that they witnessed an amazing atmosphere at Stoni Athi.
"We commend all the drivers for pushing themselves and showcasing their prowess behind the wheel. As Vivo Energy Kenya, we will continue to invest in this sport as we aim to build a critical pool of talent that can represent Kenya in local, regional and international events,” Wang'ombe averred.
Vivo Energy Kenya, through its Shell brand, is the title sponsor of the 7-leg 2026 AutoX Rally championship, running from February through to November. This is the 2nd year of Shell’s title sponsorship after a successful 2025 season.
